Geely's New 'Alcohol Hydrogen Hybrid' Models to Launch This Year, Plans 4000 Methanol Stations by 2027
Geely Auto Group's methanol car business center general manager, Lu Yukai, revealed today that Geely's new generation of 'Alcohol Hydrogen Hybrid' sedans and SUVs will be launched in the market this year, capable of flexibly blending methanol and gasoline in the same fuel tank.
Additionally, according to the CEO of Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicles, Fan Xianjun, after introducing new energy technology to Jinbei Automobiles, the alcohol hydrogen electric Jinbei products will come off the production line in the middle of this year. Furthermore, by the end of 2024, 519 methanol refueling stations have been built on key national routes, and it is expected that by the end of 2027, 4000 methanol refueling stations will be established nationwide.
Geely Holding Group Chairman, Li Shufu, disclosed in October 2024 that Geely's next-generation methanol passenger cars use 'Alcohol Hydrogen Power' ultra-alcohol hybrid technology. This technology allows for any ratio of methanol and gasoline to be flexibly mixed in the same fuel tank, combined with PHEV plug-in hybrid systems, achieving 'alcohol, electricity, and oil' capabilities.
Li Shufu also revealed that Geely has developed the 'Geely Carbon Warehouse', which can capture carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles in real-time and synthesize green low-carbon methanol through Geely's carbon dioxide hydrogenation technology, supplying methanol cars for recycling use, thereby achieving the recycling of carbon dioxide and near-zero emissions from vehicles.
