Tesla Surpasses Ford as the Brand with the Most Recalls in the US in 2024
According to Carscoops, the annual recall ranking for the US automotive industry has been released, with Tesla surpassing Ford, which had been at the top for three consecutive years, to become the brand with the most recalled vehicles for the year. Previously, Ford had been the worst-affected car manufacturer in the US recall situation for three years starting from 2021, but this year, the rise of Tesla and Stellantis changed this situation.
Statistics show that although Tesla only issued 15 recalls, far fewer than Stellantis' 67 and Ford's 62, in terms of the total number of recalled vehicles, Tesla is "far ahead". This includes the recent recall of 700,000 Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck vehicles for tire pressure monitoring systems, bringing Tesla's total recalled vehicles to 5,135,697, surpassing Stellantis' 4,722,452 and Ford's 4,370,701. In comparison, Ford issued 54 recalls in 2023, affecting 5,692,135 vehicles. Stellantis was also second last year, but at that time, it only issued 45 recalls involving 2,689,297 vehicles.
It is worth noting that Honda (including Acura) also "stood out" this year, ranking fourth with 18 recalls and 3.8 million affected vehicles, while last year Honda did not even make it into the top ten. General Motors (including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC) ranked fifth with 33 recalls and a relatively smaller number of 1.9 million affected vehicles.
It should be emphasized that all the above data, including the positions of each brand in the recall ranking, are statistical results as of December 20th. Since the end of the year has not yet arrived, any large-scale recall by any of the second to fourth-ranked car manufacturers in the next ten days could change the final ranking. The final annual recall data will be announced at the end of the year.
