Renault: Will 'Consider All Options' in Nissan-Honda Merger Talks
Renault announced tonight that it is aware of the statements regarding the initiation of business merger discussions between Nissan and Honda, which are still in the early stages.
As a major shareholder of Nissan, Renault stated that it will consider all options based on the best interests of the group and stakeholders. Renault Group continues to execute its strategy, launching projects that create value for the group, including projects already initiated within the alliance.
According to earlier reports today, Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi signed a memorandum of understanding, with Honda and Nissan initiating business merger discussions, aiming to reach an agreement by next June, and Mitsubishi Motors, which forms a corporate alliance with Nissan, will consider the possibility of joining the merger.
Honda and Nissan plan to establish a holding company by August 2026, with negotiations expected to conclude by June 2025, and the stocks of both companies are expected to be delisted between the end of July and August 2026. Honda will appoint the president of the holding company, with the majority of internal and external directors to be appointed by Honda.
