Ford Mustang GTD Achieves 6:57:685 Lap Time at Nurburgring, Joining the Ranks of the World's Fastest 6 Mass-Produced Sports Cars
On December 11th, local time on the 10th, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD achieved a time of 6:57:85 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, becoming the first American brand car to complete a single lap in under seven minutes on this track.
According to official introductions, this Mustang GTD has 815 horsepower, and its performance at the Nürburgring has been officially certified. This result ranks it as the fifth fastest mass-produced sports car according to the Nürburgring's official records, making the Mustang GTD also the sixth mass-produced car to break the seven-minute barrier.
However, Ford is obviously not satisfied with this result and plans to challenge the record again in the future to further reduce lap times. Ford President and CEO Jim Farley said, "The Mustang GTD still has more potential to be developed. We will be back."
Research has shown that the Ford Mustang GTD's achievement is slightly faster than the Porsche 992 GT3's 6:59:93, but it still falls short of the top European supercars such as the Porsche 992 GT3 RS (6:49:328) and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (6:48:047).
The Ford Mustang GTD is equipped with a 5.2L supercharged V8 engine, with a maximum power output of 815 horsepower and a peak torque of 900N・m. The car features a chassis system specifically designed for the track, including active aerodynamic components, carbon fiber body parts, semi-active suspension systems, and carbon ceramic brake discs.
