Some Tesla Cybertruck Owners Report 'Bricking' After Software Update
On December 28th, automotive media carscoops published a post reporting that some Cybertruck owners have reported their vehicles becoming unusable, or 'bricked', after installing the 2024.45.25.5 version software update.
Cybertruck owners began reporting last week that after installing this update, it caused the vehicle's system to crash, rendering the vehicle unable to start normally. One of the affected owners contacted Tesla's after-sales team and was told that 'the firmware was corrupted for unknown reasons during the installation process', and that normal operation could be restored after reinstalling the software.
Recently, Tesla introduced a new HW4 onboard computer, which also has some issues. Users have reported short circuits during the camera calibration process. This problem affects vehicles such as Model 3 and Model Y, rendering important functions like GPS, navigation, distance estimation, and cameras unusable.
