NIO's William Li: By 2035, at least half of the top ten global automakers will be Chinese, and we strive to be one of them
On Saturday, at the NIO Day 2024 event, NIO unveiled its most expensive and least expensive mass-produced vehicles:
On December 22, NIO founder and chairman William Li stated at a NIO media event that by 2035, at least five of the top ten global automotive companies will be Chinese, accounting for more than 40% of the global market share. "As for whether NIO is among them, we must redouble our efforts and not be left behind by our excellent Chinese peers; we strive to be one of them," he said.
In Li's view, the development of a company in the automotive industry is like a marathon on a muddy road. "Considering the global regional distribution and the development characteristics of the automotive industry, many automotive companies will survive in the future. However, there may be some transformations later, such as some companies that were originally doing well being eliminated later on," Li said.
Regarding the luxury car market that NIO ET9 is targeting, Li said that the higher you go into the high-end market, especially towards the executive level, the "consensus market" becomes more important, which means that what "everyone thinks" is very important.
NIO delivered 20,575 vehicles in November 2024, a year-on-year increase of 28.9%. As of November 2024, NIO has delivered a total of 190,832 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 34.4%. As of November 30, 2024, NIO's cumulative delivery volume has reached 640,426 vehicles.
